APAA offers an online degree program in Carnatic Music through Alagappa University. This well structured learning program has been developed by APAA in collaboration with the university and leading artists. The certifications currently offered are:
This program introduces students to classical music to have a knowledge on Janaka Ragas, Janya Ragas , 12 swarasthanas and Raga Lakhshanas . The practical covers Geethams , Keerthanas, Devotional songs , musical phrases based in Ragas. Students will take 1 to 3 years to complete the program.
This program explains about the basic & essential theoretical expressions in classical music. Varnam, Keerthanam, Thillana and Padams are introduced in the practical sessions. Students enrolled in this program will take 1 year to complete after obtaining their Certificate.
The program focuses on the techniques in classical music, ragas and thalas. Aspects of musical forms like Ashtapathi, Tharangam , Ragamalika Puranam and Thirupughazh are reviewed in detail. Students enrolled in this program will take 1 year to complete after obtaining their Associate Degree.
The program provides a detailed description of unique ragas , Scales and great composers, Intensive musical forms, Ragam – Tanam- Pallavi and Characteristic features of various Ragas. Students will take 1 year to complete after obtaining their Diploma and should be at least 16 years of age to obtain a Bachelor’s degree.
Exams consist of Theory and Practicals.
