Sangeetha Agarwal

Sangeetha is trained in the well-known Kalaakshetra style of dance. She started learning Bharatanatyam when she was just three and a half years old under Kumari. Prasannavadani. She also pursued rigorous training under Smt. Shobana Bhalchandra, and completed her Arangetram under the distinguished presence of Smt S. Shaarada of Kalaakshetra when she was just 10 years old. She is well-versed in Carnatic music and trained for several years under Smt. Vijayam, a local artist in Chennai.

Sangeetha has given several performances in India and has been regularly performing in the US. Some of her notable performances in the US have been at the Cherry Blossom Centennial celebration, the international showcase at the World Bank, Wolftrap and the Kennedy center's Milleniel Stage.

Her performances have been attended by dignitaries from the government of Maryland and Her Excellency Smt. Nirupama Rao, Indian Ambassador to the United States. Sangeetha has supported many non-profit organizations that have a decided impact on the local and the international community. Some of the notable causes include the South Asian Dance Evolution, a benefit in support of joint surgical mission trips to Sri Lanka & the Philippines. She has helped fundraise towards Unique Foundation's cancer research efforts, and she has helped raise money towards education of poor children in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh for Empowers Inc.

In May 2012, She received a Governor's Citation from the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia for enriching the lives of Virginia residents through the arts and culture. Sangeetha is both a master and disciple of the art that she teaches.

Sangeetha has been guest lecturing every semester and teaching short carnatic music compositions to International students who study music as their major at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.

In 2021, Sangeetha was invited as the guest speaker to address the student community of over 200 students of Guru Nanak college in Chennai giving them her perspectives of Career Vs Passion.

She wants to preserve our culture and traditions by teaching dance and music to young minds.
