Sri Kamalaambikaayaam Bhaktim Karomi

Seventh Avarana Kriti

Ragam: Sahana
Thalam: Tishra Triputa

In this kriti, Dikshitar glorifies the seventh avarana of the Sri Chakra. The seventh avarana is called the Ashtakonam which is a set of eight triangles. Eight shaktis preside over this chakra. The Chakra is Sarvarogahara chakra, the one that ‘cures all ills’.

In this kriti, Dikshitar says, I offer my devotion to my mother, Shri Kamalambika, who resides in the garden palace of the wish-fulfilling gem Kalpavatika, and to Chandika, the mother of the universe.

She has a lovely moon-like face. Her eyes are like the lotus bud, feet are praised by Indra, and whose rays are the five elements such as space. She is the gazelle-eyed in the forest of Hrim. She is the embodiment of Hrim. She is the presiding deity for the Mantra Hrim. She is Gauri.

She rejoices in Her own self of supreme bliss, the self which transcends the three states of existence: the casual, the subtle, and the gross. She, who is the mystic Yogini, known only to Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, and Hayagriva, She is differentiated as eight Shaktis

  1. Vasini She who attracts everything
  2. Kameshwari She who is the wife of Kameshwara (Shiva)
  3. Modini She who is full of joy
  4. Vimale She who is pure
  5. Arune She who is the colour of the rising sun
  6. Jayini She who is victorious
  7. Sarveshwari She who is the goddess of all
  8. Kaulini She who is born in a noble family
